Autumn is just as pretty as Spring is here. There isn’t much of a transition in Cape Town, but here the leaves on the trees turn various shades of yellow, orange and red before falling. There is one line of trees that I walk past on my way to work in the morning that has a tree of each colour. So when the sun was out yesterday I went and took this photo.
It’s been 4 months now since baby swan entered the scene in St James Park. Getting pretty big now! You can see how the feathers are starting to change color to white.
This is mom and dad swan getting angry at the geese. They look beautiful when their wings are raised like that - but they mostly do it when they’re angry. It’s amazing to watch dad swan intimidate the geese by chasing them around the pond and sometimes getting hold of one and dunking it under the water.
Mom and Ruth came to visit on their way up to Scotland. It was so great to see them! I think I pretty much shopped Ruth out though… (Mom you can NEVER outshop!)
The iconic photo of St James Park that I’ve taken for so many other tourists.
Ruth finally got to meet the pelicans she hears so much about. We also fed the swans while getting dive bombed by pigeons.
Mom and Ruth in the park.
After shopping ourselves broken on Friday and Saturday, we spent Sunday in Wimbledon Common. It’s suprizingly huge and foresty! Hopefully we’ll move closer to it next year…
On Monday they took the train up to Berwick and spent some time with the family up north. I wish I could have gone with but with studies and leave it got a bit difficult. Anyway, not long now to the trip home :)
| We went to see Barry Hilton doing a show at the Cape Bar in Bank before the rugby. The show was really great and it was fun to laugh with a whole lot of South Africans about topics only South Africans would understand. All that was missing was biltong and it would have been a little touch of home! Between his two bits we watched the Bokke convincingly win the rugby. Is this really the same team as last week?!? |
